Protecting the Heart of the Hill Country Watershed

PROTECT OUR WATERS OF TEXAS is dedicated to  bring about and maintain the preservation of our vital water resources through proactive community advocacy. We collaborate with community stakeholders; property owners-large and small, technical experts, the media and public  officials to promote responsible development and making 100% beneficial reuse of treated effluent a standard practice. We bring forward solution-oriented problem solving. In this way, we promote protection of surface and groundwaters in the state of Texas.

Right now, we are writing a formal request for TCEQ to protect Canyon Lake with a ban on wastewater treatment plant discharge like the ban they gave and have maintained for all Highland Lakes 40 years ago.

Protecting the Blue Gem of Texas

Our mission is rooted in the deep conviction that 122 watersheds in Texas; their water quality, their contact recreation, and the economies  of those communities remain healthy and strong. Having clean water forever belongs to all generations. From Canyon Lake to New Braunfels and beyond,  all Texans deserve comprehensive, high quality and consistently managed watershed protections.

Once a watershed is degraded,  what brings it back? Lady Bird Lake is case study number one. We  want to stop handing future generations remediation clean ups. Texans know what works, and consistently using what works will protect all waters of state. We learned from the 1986 precedent for Lake Travis that it is most beneficial to keep the water reservoir unpolluted than to treat degraded raw water later.

By combining positive action and advocacy with ground-level community collaboration, we work together towards a legacy of water purity, resilience and natural beauty, for every Texan.

Water users deserve raw water pristine before it goes to a treatment plant. Texans with private wells deserve protection for the integrity, safety, and reliability of their wells. We want the same protections the Highland Lakes were given 40 years ago- for all.

- Protect our water with responsible growth.

- Protect our watersheds with consistent policy decisions.

- Protect our water, our watersheds and our communities with

sustainable innovation that allows growth and protection to

   coexist.

Preserving the Canyon Lake Watershed

The health of Canyon Lake depends on the dedicated stewardship of those who call these shores home and of the voices of everyone in Bexar, Comal, Hays and Kendall counties that drink water derived from Canyon Lake.

Our community-led initiatives focus on partnering with others for advocacy to protect,  restore and monitor  the watershed, as needed,  bringing together all stakeholders; neighbors, businesses, developers, boaters and tubers to protect our most precious resource. Everyone is included and welcome. Clean water is for everyone protected in many ways by all.
